John Walsh is a seasoned network engineer with extensive experience in network design, installation, and troubleshooting for data centers and enterprise clients. He has a passion for solving problems and learning new technologies and has worked with mixed-vendor environments that include Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, AWS Cloud, and more. John's expertise lies in creating networks with high availability and redundancy while planning for disaster recovery scenarios to ensure that client networks are always operational.
John's technical skills are excellent, and he is proficient in implementing and supporting Juniper SRX firewalls, QFX/EX switches, WXC Wan Acceleration, STRM, IDP, SA and MAG SSL VPN, MAG UAC, Palo Alto Networks, and more. He is also proficient in Citrix Netscaler Load Balancer, RADIUS, 802.1x, Cisco switches, routers, and security appliances, Aruba Wireless, HP ProCurve, VMWare ESXi, and more. He is also well-versed in monitoring and analysis tools such as SNMP monitoring, Observium, Rancid, SmokePing, WireShark Packet analysis, and Visio Documentation.
John's excellent communication skills enable him to explain technical material to a nontechnical audience, and he is a good disciplinarian in documenting client networks and sharing knowledge with network and systems teams. He has worked in both pre-sales and post-sales roles and loves collaborating with others and working with awesome people.
John is a certified Salesforce Scrum Master and has managed a startup nonprofit in Southeast Asia for nearly three years before resuming a technology career. He loves traveling internationally and is currently practicing DevOps methodologies with Python, Ansible, and other automation tools. He is also learning AWS cloud architectures.
