John T. Tupponce

Dr. John Tupponce is the Chief Operating Officer at City Year, a youth-powered organization focused on expanding educational equity and developing diverse leaders through national service.12 He joined City Year in September 2020, coming from the School District of Philadelphia where he served as assistant superintendent.14

In his role as COO, Dr. Tupponce is responsible for implementing systems, processes, and organizational design, as well as aligning impact, fundraising, and district engagement operations with City Year's vision and goals.24 He manages and leads a portfolio that previously included 20-40 educational sites, 300-500 employees, and oversaw $90 to $150 million in funding.1
