John Toner

John Toner, the Vice President of Convention & Industry Collaboration at United Fresh Produce Association, has over 20 years of experience in the produce industry and event management. He started his career as a young mark boy at the Northern Lake George Yacht Club and went on to become a certified sailing instructor, teaching adults the joys of sailing. He also worked as a food clerk and dairy merchandiser at Safeway before joining United Fresh Produce Association in 1999. At United Fresh, John has managed vendors, sold exhibit space, grown attendance, and worked with convention partners, maximizing value for all stakeholders. John's background has given him a wealth of experience in volunteer management, running non-profit organizations, customer service, supply chain, sales, convention operations, and marketing.
John Toner's education includes a Certificate in Positive Leadership and Mindfulness from George Mason University, a Produce Executive degree from Cornell University, and studies at Hampden-Sydney College and Yorktown High School. He has previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for DC State Fair and has worked in business development at Global Cold Chain Expo and as a Convention Partner with Food Marketing Institute.
John's goal is to create the most efficient and best possible opportunity for the produce industry to succeed in the sharing and distributing of vital information in the marketplace. He strives to create maximum value for the produce industry and the individual members that support the organization to drive a rewarding and profitable experience.
