John Steele, PhD - Principal Scientist at Takeda
John W. Steele, PhD is an experienced cell biologist and leader with expertise in genome engineering, stem cell biology, and complex disease modeling.2 He currently serves as the Associate Director of the hiPSC Platform at Takeda Pharmaceuticals.13
Prior to his role at Takeda, Dr. Steele held various positions, including:

He brings over a decade of experience in developing novel iPSC-based models of rare and common neurodegenerative diseases, including tauopathies and lysosomal storage diseases.1 His expertise spans cellular and molecular neurobiology, assay development, stem cell biology, genome engineering, and rare disease biology.1
Dr. Steele received his B.A. in Psychology from Kenyon College and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.1 He completed post-doctoral fellowships with Paul Greengard at Rockefeller University, Larry Goldstein at UC San Diego, and in R&D at Amicus Therapeutics.1
In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his young children, exploring the outdoors, and biking.1
