John Scanlon

John Scanlon is a highly experienced attorney providing legal advice and services in a wide array of areas such as business development, financing, operations, corporate affairs, intellectual property, and more.

With a background that spans multiple industries, John has worked with technology, media, film and television production, asset management firms, nonprofits, educational institutions, and individual creatives like authors, speakers, and artists.

Having served as general counsel to multiple companies, John has been involved in launching, financing, and operating various businesses, and has been instrumental in over 40 film and television projects.

John began his legal career at Davis Polk & Wardwell, focusing on securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions. He holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was also an associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.

Currently, John is a partner and general counsel at 1624 LLC, a patent services firm, and serves as of counsel to The Potomac Law Group. He also holds the position of general counsel at Raven SR, a waste-to-energy company, and is on the board of directors of C3 Solutions, a nonprofit advocating for environment and climate public policy solutions.
