    John M Lutz is the Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations at Vanderbilt University, a position he has held since 2020.

    With a background in linguistics and computer science from Harvard College, John brings over 29 years of experience from IBM where he held various leadership roles.

    John leverages his expertise in customer relationship management, consulting, systems implementation, and strategy to lead philanthropic and alumni engagement initiatives at Vanderbilt.

    He has been instrumental in designing and executing successful fundraising and outreach campaigns at the university, including the $3.2B Dare to Grow campaign and the Opportunity Vanderbilt scholarship program.

    John also serves as an adjunct professor at the Owen School of Management and as an advisory board member at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, demonstrating his commitment to education and talent development.

    His goal is to advance Vanderbilt's academic excellence, research innovation, and community impact through securing transformative gifts and fostering lifelong connections with alumni and supporters.
