John Karapelou is an award-winning Board Certified Medical Illustrator (CMI) and Fellow of the Association of Medical Illustrators (FAMI) known for providing high-quality custom medical illustration production, consultation, and creative services with a keen focus on detail, accuracy, and clarity of expression.

His specialties lie in conveying vital concepts across various market sectors, encompassing biotechnology, pharmaceutical marketing and advertising, science branding, medical and surgical technology, consumer and medical publishing, medical-legal matters, and education.

Having pursued a degree in B.S., Medical Illustration / Allied Medical Professions from The Ohio State University, John Karapelou has gained a remarkable blend of academic knowledge and practical skills to excel in his profession.

Throughout his career, John Karapelou has held significant roles such as being the Creative Director/Producer at Karapelou Medical Art, working on diverse freelance medical illustration projects with companies like Grifols and MedThink, serving as an Assistant Professor at Cleveland Institute of Art, undertaking the position of Partner; Director of Visual Communications at Patient Digital Assistant, and instructing as an Adjunct Instructor at The Ohio State University.

His journey also includes experiences as a Freelance Co-Author and Illustrator at Springer Science+Business Media, Chief Medical Illustrator at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and a Medical Illustrator at the same esteemed institution.
