John Hagner

John Hagner is a Partner at Clarity Campaign Labs, where he works with clients in progressive politics to solve challenges.1 He joined Clarity after serving as the National Field Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) in 2012 and the Director of Targeting for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in 2010.1
Before his national roles, Hagner was the field director for Sherrod Brown's first campaign for the U.S. Senate in Ohio in 2006 and the Deputy Executive Director at the Ohio Democratic Party in the 2008 cycle.1 At Clarity, he has worked with many candidates for Gubernatorial, Senatorial, and Congressional positions, as well as directly with the DGA, DSCC, and DCCC.1 He’s also worked with national groups such as EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, House Majority PAC, and the Equality Federation, and on ballot initiatives like the 2018 Florida Rights Restoration campaign and LGBTQ non-discrimination campaigns.1
In February 2025, Hagner launched Workbench Strategy, a data strategy and public opinion research firm, with Sam Nitz and Jane Rayburn.24 Before that, Hagner was the Director of Sales and Business Development at Civiqs from January to November 2024.3
Hagner graduated from The College of William and Mary with a bachelor's degree (1997-2001) and attended Leysin American School.3
