John is the CEO and co-founder of both Finlay James and Talentskowt, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the businesses in their four offices located in South Manchester, Central London, Chicago, and New York City. John, along with his wife and Finlay James' COO, Sara Gaughan, established Finlay James in July 2003, which continues to be one of the leading specialist Tech Sales and Marketing recruiters in the world. John's priority is to mentor and develop his team of recruiters, ensuring they have the skills and experience to progress rapidly in their careers. He achieves this by offering industry-leading training through The Recruitment Network and APSCo.

John has a degree in Maritime Studies from Liverpool John Moores University and has also studied at St Annes High School in Stockport and Xavarian College in Manchester. Prior to establishing Finlay James, John worked as the Branch Manager and Account Executive at Howard Jackson.
