    John Garbutt is a seasoned software developer and technical leader with extensive experience in the field. After studying at the University of Cambridge, he began working with OpenStack in 2010 and quickly became a core reviewer on the platform. He was later elected to the OpenStack Technical Committee in 2016 and re-elected in 2017.

    John has presented at numerous technical conferences on OpenStack related topics, showcasing his expertise in the field. He has worked as a Principal Engineer for StackHPC, driving the convergence of OpenStack and HPC. Prior to this, he worked at Rackspace, the #1 managed cloud company, as a Senior Software Developer and later as a Principal Engineer. He was also an Author at O'Reilly Media.

    John has a passion for music as well and was formerly a member of the Corona Brass Quintet as a Tuba player. He is known on IRC as "johnthetubaguy".
