John Buhl

John Buhl is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in leadership roles within technology-driven organizations, specializing in process optimization, increasing ROI, asset base growth, and driving profitability.

During his tenure at Vanguard, John excelled as the Principal of Lean Enterprise & Devops Transformation by identifying and averting unnecessary capital expenditure, leading software development teams to faster solution releases with fewer defects, increasing assets under management of an inactive client base, and reducing customer support costs.

In the role of Head of Retail Digital Services at Vanguard, he successfully redesigned mobile apps, significantly increasing customer logons via mobile devices and improving user satisfaction.

As the Head of High-Net-Worth Client Services at Vanguard, John designed and implemented a new operating model for the division with over $500 billion in assets under management.

His areas of expertise encompass Product Development, Innovation Portfolio Management, Process Optimization, Lean and Agile Methodologies, Program Management, Financial Technology, Customer Experience, Client Retention, Employee Engagement, and Corporate Strategy.

John holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship & Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Prior to his roles at Vanguard, he served as the Senior VP of Incubator Strategy and Governance at Munich Re America Services, Inc., and held positions at Corporate Entrepreneur Community, Parthenon-EY, and Vanguard in various senior consulting and managerial capacities.
