John M. Bernard

John Bernard is a highly accomplished business consultant and renowned author in the field of performance transformation, Lean management systems, and public sector effectiveness. With over three decades of experience working in intersections between government, business, and social good, he is a widely recognized authority in his field. John has served as an advisor to multiple governors and has been instrumental in designing and deploying results-driven management systems for over 30 state agencies. He was a member of the team that led the first documented large-scale implementation of Lean in the US, focusing on "respect for people" and the "elimination of all forms of waste." In his spare time, John has also engaged in building Hytch Rewards, a startup that aims to change commuting habits to reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emissions. John is the former President of John M. Bernard LLC, Senior Fellow at Governing Institute, and President & Chief Operating Officer at Hytch, LLC.
