John Beane is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MemComputing, Inc., a company he co-founded in 2016 alongside Dr. Fabio L. Traversa and Dr. Max Di Ventra. MemComputing focuses on developing a novel computing architecture that integrates memory and processing, allowing for significant improvements in solving complex computational problems, akin to the performance expected from quantum computing but using classical physics principles.13
Before establishing MemComputing, Beane had a successful career as a serial entrepreneur. He served as the Vice President of Engineering at ecoATM, which he co-founded; the company was later acquired by Outerwall for $350 million in 2013. Prior to ecoATM, he co-founded Asteres, Inc., a leader in automated prescription delivery systems.12 Beane has also held executive roles in various companies, including CardioNow, Bridge Medical, and Pyxis Corporation, the latter of which was acquired by Cardinal Health for $960 million.12
Beane's early career included working as a software engineer on classified projects for the U.S. Department of Defense at XonTech Inc. He has a strong background in the design and development of complex hardware and software systems, holding 16 patents related to his work.12 Additionally, he has served as an entrepreneur in residence and visiting professor at the University of California, San Diego, where he advised on technology commercialization.24
