John Ackerly

John Ackerly is the Co-Founder & CEO of Virtru, a dedicated husband, father, and strong advocate for privacy rights. With a mission to empower individuals and organizations with secure control over their data, Ackerly leads the charge to ensure data privacy everywhere. He is a staunch supporter of the #respectthedata movement.

A highly educated individual, Ackerly holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MLitt in Modern History from the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Fine Art from Williams College. His diverse educational background equips him with a broad perspective for tackling complex issues.

Throughout his career, Ackerly has held various positions showcasing his leadership and strategic acumen. With past roles including CEO & Co-Founder at Virtru, Affiliate Partner at Lindsay Goldberg, and roles as an investor at Providence Equity Partners and The Blackstone Group, he has honed his skills across different sectors and industries.

Prior to his current role at Virtru, Ackerly served as the Director of the Office of Policy and Strategic Planning at the U.S. Department of Commerce and as the Associate Director at the National Economic Council at The White House, demonstrating his commitment to public service and policy-making.
