John A. Burt

John A. Burt is a Professor of Biology and Head of Environmental Studies at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).1 He leads the NYUAD Marine Biology Laboratory and is a co-Principal Investigator of the Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (ACCESS) and the Water Research Center (WRC).1

Research and Expertise

Professor Burt's research focuses on the responses of marine organisms to extreme environmental conditions and climate change, including studies on corals, reef fishes, mangroves, and seagrass.1 He also investigates the marine environmental implications of coastal urbanization and industrialization.1 Throughout his decade at NYUAD, Burt has published over 120 scholarly articles and book chapters, demonstrating his significant contributions to the field.1
