John A. Burt

John A. Burt is a distinguished Professor of Biology and the Head of Environmental Studies at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), focusing on marine biology and environmental sciences.

Burt leads the renowned NYUAD Marine Biology Laboratory and holds key roles at the Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (Mubadala ACCESS) and the Water Research Center (WRC).

With over 140 scholarly articles and book chapters, his research at NYUAD encompasses marine organisms' responses to extreme environmental conditions, climate change, and the impact of coastal urbanization and industrialization on marine environments.

Educationally, Burt holds a PhD in Biology, an MSc in Biological Sciences, a PGCE in Education, and a BSc in Biology from prestigious universities.

Having served in various academia roles, including Professor, Program Head, and Associate Professor at NYUAD, as well as Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment, and Health (UNU-INWEH) and Assistant Professor at Zayed University.
