Joel Geiderman, MD, is a prominent figure in the field of emergency medicine, serving as the Co-Chair of the Ruth and Harry Roman Emergency Department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He has been a significant contributor to the evolution of emergency medicine since its establishment as a specialty in the late 1970s. Geiderman completed his medical education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and his residency at Northwestern University Hospital.
Throughout his career, which spans over four decades, Geiderman has witnessed and participated in the transformation of emergency care, advocating for advancements that enhance patient outcomes. Under his leadership, the emergency department at Cedars-Sinai has expanded significantly, now managing up to 300 patients daily with a dedicated team of over 40 doctors and various healthcare professionals.12
In addition to his clinical role, Geiderman is a professor of Emergency Medicine and has held various leadership positions, including serving on the board of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and as the medical director for the Beverly Hills Fire Department. He has also been involved in community service, having been appointed by President George W. Bush to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council from 2005 to 2010.
