Joel Alvarado, MPA
Joel Alvarado is a politically progressive and socially conscious individual hailing from Brooklyn, now residing in Atlanta. He is an advocate for higher education, holding a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from The University of Alabama, a Master's in Public Administration from Clark Atlanta University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Morehouse College.
With a diverse professional background, Joel has served in various leadership roles, including Executive Vice President of External Affairs at Ohio River South and as a Lobbyist at Cornerstone Communications Group. He has also held positions such as State Director for Civic Engagement-GA at NAACP, Director for Community Outreach and Engagement at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive at DeKalb County Government, Legislative Director at DeKalb County Government, and Policy Director at Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention. He also founded and led Power of the Pen, LLC as its President.
