Development Manager

As the sole Product Operations team member, I drive product development and commercialization process and calendar across a quickly growing brand of technical outdoor apparel and gear. I work as a liaison to cross functional partners to communicate needs, timing, and tools. As we expand our offerings I stay close to the product and cross functional teams in order to facilitate a launch strategy for new products. A collaborator and driver, I track progress against key milestones and report to leadership team, and develop processes and operationalize speed to market.

I work closely with Marketing, Creative, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Planning, Sales and Ecom teams to deliver on-time assets for photoshoots, sales tools, and accuracy in product line data to enable brand storytelling, accurate data for line planning and ensuring the website data is impeccable as products come and go. I partner with Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sales and Product to ensure the Sitka brand is PFAS free and sustainably responsible. My emphasis on the launch process will deliver new product families to the brand, bringing in multi-million dollars in revenue.

Part of the Global Apparel Materials organization (GLAM), I managed a team of developers who provide color exploration on business-right materials. I collaborated with Color Design, Product Management, Operations, Material Developers, Colorists and Suppliers to deliver color excellence in apparel materials on time, and on trend. My work included setting the strategy for delivery of color and materials through developing tools for our partners to enable color decisions that best serve their market, establishing and implementing calendars for approved color delivery, leveraging my material and dye expertise to guide color decisions, and building and growing a team that is passionate about their work. I explored sustainability in color projects to minimize environmental impact of dying natural and synthetic materials, and conduct trainings and presentations on findings and sustainability in color in the supply chain to over 400 partners.

AOYP hosts several opportunities throughout the year for professionals to grow and network in the athletic and outdoor industries in Portland. As Chair of this committee, I work with an awesome team to brainstorm, plan and host large events that emphasize networking, education, and industry spotlights. I actively attend all our meetups and can be found connecting job seekers with new contacts, meeting new industry professionals, and learning about new companies in the area. I also address and lead the larger events, welcoming the crowd, creating hype for the evening, and introducing the highlight of the event.

As a Senior Color Advisor I took on a more challenging workload--more technical materials, projects and partnerships. I served as a mentor to the other members of my team, conducted training sessions with global partners, and heavily participated in the ideation behind our evolving team. I successfully continued to bring my categories to a consistent buy ready state, developed a color process for the new NikeLAB category, and regularly improved our day to day responsibilities by leaning procedures. I grew my skills in forming trusting relationships with partners overseas in liaison offices, and vendors and factories in our supply chain.

Senior Color Advisor

In my role as Advisor for Color Operations, I worked closely with internal apparel business categories (Product Line Managers, Technical Developers, Color Designers) as well as global partners (Colorists, vendors and Product Creation teams) to select the right color for the right materials. I aligned production color to Nike color standards through labdip and colorfastness review, and helped my categories reach on-time buy ready. I collected data and provided reports to my partners to provide updates on the 3,000+ seasonal labdips coming my way, and created tools to help design partners understand color/material relationships. I developed solid color acuity, dye class, material and color fastness expertise in this role.

Operations, Color

I collaborated with the Greenlayer team to develop colorways for men's and women's performance wear for both Spring/Summer 2013, and Fall/Winter 2013. This involved several weekly meetings to review and revise color stories, illustrating the colorways for each garment style using Illustrator, and reviewing forecasted colors and competitor color research to determine the best approach for performance apparel. I also assisted with merchandise planning, reviewing the current products and determining a strategy for increased sales with fewer SKUs. I assembled a merchandise plan for SheROX events nationwide, selecting a set merchandise in exclusive colorways for the series.

Color Design

I developed processes for streamlining new development workflow with the Looptworks team. I researched and implemented a collaborative working solution to ease communication within the team. I wrote copy for e-blasts and the website, and developed a customer engagement plan across several social media streams and customer interactions. I provided feedback for merchandise planning on product for major accessories retailers, and developed a retail strategy for a women's line of clothing.

Project Management Intern

As an Instructional Designer, I created engaging, custom e-Learning courses for a variety of clients, including Nike, Success Factors, Windows Phone, Microsoft SMSGR, The Pampered Chef and Symantec. I met regularly with Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders, maintaining communication regarding schedule, content, and budget. I took technical and procedural content from within an organization, and arranged it into material that is consumable by learners. 

As a Project Manager, I maintained schedule and budget for online course development. Through solid resource and time management, I was able to launch coursework on time and under budget. 

While Program Manager for Windows Phone VIP, I managed my engineering team and fulfillment team, as well as the content developers for the social community site. I met with stakeholders several times a week, providing metrics on site use, bug tracking, budget review, and event planning. I managed all projects related to the VIP community, client communication and project definition.

Managed production of digital print projects, from color quality and consistency, to finishing, binding and mailing services. Implemented R&D of new digital printing department with team. Developed trusting relationships with customers, retaining repeat business. Sought environmentally responsible methods for print development.

Developed and delivered math and science instruction for junior high students with learning disabilities. Researched disabilities and methods for modification and accommodation for students. Excelled at developing behavioral management programs. Met regularly with general education staff, community members, parents, counselors, and district managers regarding the learning needs of my students. Advocated for tools, time, and support materials to better serve the population of special needs students in my school and district.
