Joachim Samuelsson

Joachim Samuelsson is the CEO of Crunchfish AB, a position he has held since March 2020. Prior to becoming CEO, he served as the Chairman of the Board from 2012 to 2020. Samuelsson has a rich background as a serial entrepreneur, starting his career in 1996 and founding several successful companies, including ComOpt AB, Actix Ltd, and Biomain AB. He has been involved in various roles within Crunchfish, including being a board member since 2012 and holding executive positions in other companies like Blippit AB and Crunchfish Digital Cash AB.13

Education and Experience

Samuelsson earned a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Linköping University in 1988. His professional journey includes significant experience at Ericsson from 1989 to 1996, where he contributed to technological advancements and holds numerous patents in digital payments and proximity-based interaction.12

As a pioneer in the field of digital cash, Samuelsson has been instrumental in developing technologies that replicate the properties of physical cash in a digital format. He has also contributed to gesture control technologies for augmented reality applications. His entrepreneurial efforts have led to the successful sale of several ventures for over a billion Swedish Krona, and he has received multiple accolades for his contributions to entrepreneurship, including being named the most entrepreneurial person in Southern Sweden in 2012.23
