Jo Read

Jo Read is a Senior Lecturer in Dance at the University of East London (UEL) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).1 She teaches and leads various choreographic and dance industry modules on the undergraduate dance course and supervises PhD students in the Postgraduate Performing Arts subject area.1

Jo Read's qualifications and expertise include:

1. A PhD in Dance Studies from De Montfort University (2018)1
2. An MA in Dance Histories, Cultures and Practices from the University of Surrey (2010)1
3. A BA (Hons) in Dance and Culture with Professional Training from the University of Surrey (2009)1
4. A qualified and registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MBACP)1

Her research interests focus on choreography, dance practice, dance and mental health/wellbeing, and dance-music relationships.1 Jo Read has also worked as a dancer, performing in projects with hip-hop dance company Boy Blue and reaching the finals for the 2v2 Litefeet battles at Litefest 2019.1
