Jim Wells is a highly experienced marketing and communications strategist with a proven track record of developing successful integrated campaigns for top brands and organizations. With nearly two decades of experience in both blue chip communications firms and in-house corporate communications departments, Jim has honed his skills across a range of industries, including insurance, politics, and Fortune 500 companies.
Currently holding the position of Global Head of Digital & Social Media at AIG, Jim is responsible for the company's corporate digital marketing function, focusing on driving brand consistency across AIG's global website portfolio, implementing a common marcomm tech stack, and developing effective content strategies. Gartner recognized the latter as one of the most effective in the insurance industry, while Jim's efforts in streamlining the corporate advertising strategy and channel marketing mix have made AIG more efficient with its advertising spend.
Prior to his role at AIG, Jim held positions at Brunswick Group and Weber Shandwick, where he contributed significantly to the development of both companies' digital practices. At Brunswick, Jim advised a range of Fortune 100 clients on reputation management, influencer marketing, and driving business results through the use of effective content strategies. Meanwhile, at Weber Shandwick, Jim helped to develop Mediaco, the company's brand publishing offer, which earned a spot on the AdAge A-List two years running.
Jim's career began in New Jersey politics, where he served as Communications Director and Chief of Staff to the Majority Whip of the NJ Assembly, and as Campaign Manager on several district campaigns. A graduate of Seton Hall University with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Public Administration, Jim is recognized industry-wide as an expert in digital and social media marketing, brand publishing, content strategy, and reputation management.
