Dr. Jim Kyung-Soo Liew, Ph.D. is a prominent figure in the world of finance and entrepreneurship. With a Ph.D. in Finance from Columbia University, he is an Associate Professor of Finance at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, where he teaches various courses focused on Machine Learning, Crypto-Currencies, and Leading Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Dr. Liew has published groundbreaking research on the intersection of social media/big data, cryptos/blockchain, and financial markets, and has served as Editorial Board Member for The Journal of the British Blockchain Association, Journal of Alternative Investments, Journal of Financial Data Science, and the Journal of Portfolio Management.

Dr. Liew is the President and Founder of SoKat Consulting, LLC, a SBA 8(a) certified company that specializes in creating Machine Learning / AI and Blockchain solutions primarily for institutional investors, government agencies, academic institutions, and select-startups. His company has won awards for creating world-class products and services by unlocking the hidden value of data through thoughtful and creative solutions like actionable business intelligence, transparent data analytics, bold predictive models, and next-generation investment products.

Dr. Liew has been honored with the Dean’s Award for Faculty Excellence 2015-2019, in addition to being on the Board of Directors for EO DC, the US Speaker Program - Emerging Technologies: AI, Machine Learning and Blockchain at the U.S. Department of State, and Co-Chair of the AI Curriculum Committee and Chair of the Data Readiness for AI Committee at ACT-IAC.

Dr. Liew is passionate about pushing the boundaries of financial knowledge and product development as both an academic and Web3 entrepreneur. He currently resides with his family just outside of Baltimore.
