Jim Friscia

Jim Friscia is a versatile and experienced e-learning and edtech professional with a passion for applying new tools and techniques to improve online and classroom-based teaching and learning. With a multidimensional career that spans corporate communication, distance education, technology consulting and training, Jim is a proven relationship manager, team leader, facilitator, mentor, and lifelong learner. Jim's expertise includes applying e-learning and learning management systems, designing and implementing distance learning initiatives, training design, classroom instruction (adult learners), videoconferencing and webinars, speech communication and presentation design, social networking tools, consultative sales, account development, and management.

Jim holds an MS from Syracuse University and a BA from the University at Albany, SUNY. During his career, Jim served as Director of Academic Support and Training at the University of Western States, Online Education Technology Consultant at Independent Consultant, Senior Account Manager at Learning.com, Senior Account Manager at eCollege, and Education Technology Consultant & Trainer at Teleconference Training Associates, among other roles.

Outside of work, Jim maintains a healthy work-life balance by being actively involved in the local community. He serves on the board of a neighborhood association and is a member of the only Mardi Gras "krewe" in Portland. Jim is also an active participant in the local music community, helping artists with promotion, networking, and technology use, and occasionally blogging about live music in Portland, Oregon.
