Jim Cooley

Jim Cooley is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in technology and innovation.

During his tenure at BCG Digital Ventures, he excelled as a Venture CTO, overseeing the creation and launch of groundbreaking businesses in collaboration with corporate partners.

Prior to his role at BCGDV, Jim demonstrated exceptional leadership by building and managing teams of varying sizes, ranging from 4 to over 70 individuals, across several startup and product development projects.

His career highlights include spearheading the development of next-generation workload management services at VMware, establishing a successful in-memory Data Analytics and Visualization startup at Ubix Labs, and contributing to the innovation of Elastic Block Storage for Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Jim also served as the Director of Engineering at HP Cloud Services, where he led initiatives in data analytics, database services, messaging, DNS, and deployment and monitoring services.

Throughout his career, Jim has been instrumental in securing patents in various technological domains, including pioneering advancements in OTA (over the air) updating for mobile and wireless devices, some of which have been acquired by Apple Computers.

Jim Cooley holds an MBA from the University of Washington's Michael G. Foster School of Business, pursued a graduate program at MIT Sloan School of Management, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington.

His impressive professional journey includes key roles such as Sr Principal Engineer at Cognite, Sr Staff Architect at VMware, Co-founder and CTO at Ubix.io, and CTO at Zumobi.

Additionally, Jim has held positions at other prestigious organizations, including Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, where his expertise in technology and engineering have left a lasting impact.
