Jessica Eaves Mathews

Jessica Tuchman Mathews is a prominent American expert in international affairs, particularly known for her work in climate and energy, defense and security, and governance. She was born on July 4, 1946, to historian Barbara Tuchman and medical researcher Lester Tuchman. Mathews graduated from Radcliffe College in 1967 and earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology from the California Institute of Technology in 1973.

Her career spans various roles in government, journalism, and nonprofit organizations. Notably, she served as the president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from 1997 to 2015, where she significantly influenced global policy discussions. Prior to this, she held positions on the National Security Council and was a founding vice president of the World Resources Institute.
