It’s interesting that Satoshi used the term ‘mining’ to define the act of acquiring BTC from its limited supply via proof of work, (showing you got to it first)—almost as if this valuable digital material was embedded in a digital mountain somewhere. You just needed the right tools to find it and seize it.
