Jerry King

Dr. Jerry King retired as president of Trinity Valley Community College on May 31, 2023, concluding a 45-year career at the institution.1 He served as president since 2016 and held various roles at TVCC, including business and economics professor, dean of Workforce Education, associate vice president of Workforce Education and Business Affairs, vice president of instruction, and chief instructional officer.1

Dr. King, a native of Commerce, Texas, earned his bachelor's degree in economics (1973), master's degree in business administration (1975), and doctorate in education (1986) from Texas A&M University-Commerce.1

Beyond his academic career, Dr. King was actively involved in community leadership:

• Served as mayor of Athens from 1995 to 2005
• Board vice chair of the Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative from 2008 to 2012
• President of the Athens Noon Kiwanis Club
• Vice president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and the Henderson County United Way
• President of the East Texas Economic Development District and the East Texas Tech-Prep Consortium1

Dr. King received several honors, including service awards from his alma mater, recognition from Henderson County Retired Teachers, and was named Citizen of the Year in Athens.1
