The Jet Division, consisting of Jet, Jet Mart and Edgars Active, is one of the largest discount retailers in Africa with 700 stores in 8 countries (~R10bn per annum)
•	Responsible for the overall management of the Marketing, Pricing, Customer Experience and Strategy departments, leading a team of 30 people with a marketing budget of ~R250m 
•	Management of the Jet Club loyalty programme which currently generates over ~R100m in profit annually 
•	Lead the development and execution of all Jet Division strategic priorities
•	Lead all new business development and M&A activities within Edcon that involve Jet
•	Lead on the strategy development and pilot for East Africa entry
•	Lead on the business model repositioning, and rebrand of the Edgars Active chain 
•	Management of overall e-Commerce strategy, implementation and digital marketing for Discount Division
•	Responsible for overall brand strategy and management of all marketing activities (ATL, BTL, digital, direct marketing, customer research and insights) for all Discount Division chains. Under my leadership, Jet achieved significant improvement in brand perception and awareness and for the first time, won an Apex Award for Change in 2017
•	Lead the overall pricing and promotions strategy for all Jet chains
•	Judge and panellist for Apex 2018 advertising awards

Divisional Executive - Strategy, Marketing and New Business Development, Jet 

Management consulting and investment advisory in the mining and energy industry:
•	Full market due diligence on a manganese resource in West Africa for a multi-national mining company
•	Assisted Anglo Platinum in the commercialisation of fuel cell technology for mining equipment that they developed. This involves finding potential commercialisation partners to take this technology to market as well as securing off-take agreements with potential customers

•	Developed and implemented a transformation programme for one of Africa’s largest utilities with the aim of realising cost savings of ~R60Bn over five years
•	Fuel sourcing strategy for one of Africa’s largest power utilities

Retail and FMCG experience: strategy development, pricing, promotions, route-to-market strategies and negotiations
•	Due-diligence on a growing African retailer for a private equity firm interested in purchasing a minority stake
•	Post-merger integration of a consumer goods company for one South Africa’s leading beverage players
•	Developed a route-to-consumer strategy in Uganda for a leading beverage company 
•	Developed and implemented a negotiations strategy for leading African retailer – this involved over 500 suppliers and revenues of ~R20Bn
•	Developed and implemented the pricing strategy for one of South Africa’s largest retailers – this involved revenues of ~R30Bn
•	Assisted in the creation and training of a new pricing division for a client

Other experience:
•	Managed a research team responsible for understanding the impact of the internet on the African economy and identifying potential future opportunities for the internet in Finance, Health, Retail and Education. Findings were published in the paper titled Lions Go Digital in November 2013

•	Part of the PED negotiations team for securing long-term coal supply contracts (which worth over R1Bn per annum)

•	Management consultant advising companies in the areas of strategy and operations
•	Advised a logistics company in their R20Bn expansion strategy
•	Consulted companies on local and global coal market dynamics, coal market research and helped them develop procurement strategies based on this information
•	Developed and assisted in business growth strategy focusing on commodities for South Africa’s largest logistics provider 
•	Assisted two state-owned companies in setting up and running Project Management Offices for the  implementation of their turnaround strategy
