Online Community Expert for Solopreneurs and Small Businesses | I help you turn your expertise into an audience and your audience into a sustainable business. 🔴 ⚪

🎙️ Why listen to me? Because over the last 15 years, I have been building profitable online audiences and helping others do the same.

Across many different content mediums -- blogging, podcasting, live video, newsletters, and more -- the goal is always the same: channel your expertise and enthusiasm into building an online community of people you care about, while identifying the products and services you can provide that will help your people and support your business.

I've done this myself for projects like the Back Home Network, The Assembly Call, and The Showrunner, as part of a team at both Copyblogger and Movement Ventures, and am currently coaching many others toward the same goal.

🙋 I can help you build your "unfair business advantage"

Recently, my 7-year old daughter saw me hosting an episode of The Assembly Call, a live video show and about Indiana University basketball that I co-founded in 2011. We'll publish our 1,000th episode sometime early in 2024. Our email is approaching 10,000 subscribers.

She asked me, "Daddy, are you famous?"

I immediately responded,"No, my dear, I'm not."

After thinking about it for a few seconds, I followed up by telling her, "But I do matter to a small group of people I care about. And that means so much more than 'being famous' ever could."

That moment crystallized for me what my purpose is for any personal audience-building endeavor, and what my purpose is in helping the people I work with and coach. Fame is never the goal. Money isn't even the goal ... at first.

The foundational goal is to identify a group of people you care about and then figure out a meaningful way to serve them. Do this over time, and you start to matter to them. Do it over more time, and you earn not only their interest and affection, but also their trust.

And when you have the trust of people who you care about, and who care about you, you have the foundation for a sustainable business. There is still much work to be done, but the trust and affinity of a community becomes your "unfair business advantage," as my mentor and business partner Brian Clark used to call it.

If this sounds interesting to you, send me a DM or an email (jerod@hey.com). I was in your shoes once, and in many ways still am. I'd love to help you take the next step in building your online community and business.
