A member of Hemmera's marine ecology team with responsibilities including managing and conducting field programs, data collection and analysis, permitting, report writing, and supporting business development. Responsibilities also include supporting the development of environmental assessments for major marine and land-based development projects in British Columbia.

A member of Clean Nova Scotia’s Residential Direct Install of Efficient Products (RDIEP) division. Responsible for the installation of energy efficient products in residential buildings as well as informing the public about other energy programs offered by Clean Nova Scotia (e.g. renewable energy rebate program and home energy assessments). Gained technical experience as well as experience in public relations and education.

Field Representative

Headed a research project on the use of coastal vegetation as the basis for market-based environmental management in developing countries. Helped conduct field surveys in which soil carbon content was measured for comparison between tropical savannah, forest plantations, and pasture land. Responsibilities included report writing, equipment set-up and maintenance, and in-field data collection.

Charles Darwin University

Researcher/Field Technician

Head researcher on sustainable transportation project. Gained experience in web design and development, planning and organizing workshops, stakeholder communication, and publishing technical reports.

Ecology Action Center

Student/Researcher

Worked under main instructor to support the learning and social development of first year integrated science students. Assisted the instruction of both field and laboratory experiments/exercises on an array of subjects, including phycology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate anatomy, ecological succession and microbiology. Helped with grading and student record keeping.

Teaching Assistant for the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program

Research focused on the subject of shark conservation, in particular, the use of shark skin as a tool in combating illegal shark finning in Canadian waters. Developed knowledge of shark/fish biology and physiology. Responsibilities included in-field data collection, managing and statistically analyzing data, and report writing. Gained experience in public relations through interaction with local fishing communities.

Canadian Shark Research Laboratory (DFO)

Developed a framework for a new division of bottlenose dolphin acoustics research and assisted in ongoing field and lab research. Gained experience in environmental conservation, marine mammal field surveys, and wildlife monitoring.
