Jens Eckstein

Jens Eckstein is an experienced life science entrepreneur and startup mentor with a strong background in venture capital, technology transfer, and board of directors roles. With over 15 years of venture capital experience, he has been instrumental in funding early-stage biopharmaceutical companies and health care IT startups.

Jens Eckstein is known for his active mentoring of life science entrepreneurs and startup teams, as well as for his involvement in founding innovative life science and health care IT companies. He is the creator of the OneStart business plan competition, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in the life sciences sector.

In addition to his venture capital expertise, Jens Eckstein brings over a decade of operational and research management experience in drug discovery and biotechnology. His specialties include venture capital investing, entrepreneurship in biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals, drug discovery and development, as well as integrated healthcare IT solutions.

Education wise, Jens Eckstein has a diverse academic background with studies in Design at the University of California, San Francisco, a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of Konstanz, and additional studies in Chemistry from the same institution.

Currently, Jens Eckstein serves as the Managing Partner at Apollo Health Ventures. He has also held various key positions in organizations such as being a Former Member of the Board of Directors at HAYA Therapeutics SA, Board Observer at Ochre Bio, Director and Chairman of the Board at Aeovian Pharmaceuticals, Advisor and Board Member at Cleara Biotech, Interim CEO, President, and Director at Samsara Therapeutics, Non-Executive Director at Imugene Limited, and Expert Council Member at EITHealth. Additionally, he has been involved as an Angel Investor at bosWell and as a Kauffman Fellow at the prestigious Kauffman Fellows program.
