Jenny Otto

Jenny Otto is currently the DNA Technical Leader at the New Mexico Department of Public Safety (NM-DPS) Forensic Laboratory. In this role, she oversees forensic DNA analysis, which includes examining evidence for biological samples and generating DNA profiles for criminal investigations. The DNA/Biology Unit under her leadership employs advanced techniques for DNA testing, including autosomal STR testing and male Y-STR DNA testing, and has been operational since 1993.1

Jenny Otto has extensive experience in her field, having worked at NM-DPS for over 14 years.2 Her expertise is crucial in maintaining the laboratory's accreditation standards and ensuring that forensic analyses meet both state and federal guidelines. The laboratory itself is accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and adheres to FBI Quality Assurance Standards for DNA Testing Laboratories, reflecting a commitment to high-quality forensic science.1
