Jenevieve Maerker

Jenevieve Maerker is a Counsel in Foley Hoag's Intellectual Property department, specializing in Trademark, Copyright, and Unfair Competition.

She assists companies of all sizes in developing and safeguarding their intellectual property assets, focusing on trademark strategy, registration, licensing, and litigation.

With experience in book publishing, she advises on copyright, social media, right of publicity, and false advertising matters, particularly aiding creators, publishers, and users of copyright-protected content.

Working across various industries like pharmaceuticals, medical devices, financial services, and consumer products, she caters to startups to multinational corporations.

Jenevieve Maerker is a regular contributor to Foley Hoag's Trademark and Copyright Law Blog, a member of INTA's Right of Publicity Committee, and vice chair of the Copyright Law and Related Rights Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association.

Her education includes a JD from Harvard Law School, an MA in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College, and studies in Norwegian language and society at the University of Oslo.

She also holds a BA in Plan II and Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin.

Previously, she served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Margot Botsford at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and held positions at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts of Massachusetts and Hackett Publishing Company.
