Jeffrey Welser has an extensive background in electrical engineering, with a Doctor of Philosophy, a Master of Science, and a Bachelor of Science all from Stanford University. Currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer of IBM Research and Vice President of Exploratory Science and University Partnerships, Welser has held a variety of roles within IBM throughout his career, including Vice President of IBM Research Global Exploratory Science and University Partnerships and Lab Director for Almaden and Japan, and Director of the Almaden Service Research and Accelerated Discovery Lab, Nanoelectronics Research Initiative, Next Generation Technology, and SOI Technology.
