Jeffrey Cason

Jeffrey Wilson Cason was the Provost and Executive Vice President of Middlebury College, as well as the Edward C. Knox Professor of International Studies and Political Science.12 He had a long and distinguished career at Middlebury College, where he served in various roles since 1994.1

Born on February 7, 1962, in Madison, Wisconsin, Cason completed his B.A. in International Studies at Earlham College and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.12

Personal Life and Legacy

Cason was married to Gail Borden and had three children: Elias, Sophia, and Gabriel.2 He was remembered for his warm personality, sense of humor, and passion for bringing people together. Cason was also known for his love of cooking and hosting gatherings at his home.2

Tragically, Jeffrey Cason passed away on July 14, 2022, at the age of 60, due to complications from cancer treatment.25 His sudden death was a shock to his family, friends, and the Middlebury College community, where he had made significant contributions throughout his career.24
