Jay Peter Salvas is a highly accomplished individual with a background in graphic design, having obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design from Yale University.
With a strong passion for art and design, Jay has a comprehensive education focusing on typographic etiquette, visual and verbal communication, as well as strategic problem-solving. He excels in hiring, managing, and art directing freelance designers, illustrators, and photographers.
Throughout his career, Jay has held various significant roles in creative industries, including book publishing, small-scale design studio practices, fashion advertising agencies, strategy agencies, and his own studio practice - 2MI, established in 2006.
His creative work has garnered recognition from esteemed publications such as Communication Arts, How, Print, Step, and internationally renowned institutions like the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the Art Institute of Boston and San Francisco, San Francisco Center for the Book (SFCB), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and Yale University.
Furthermore, Jay has served as a visiting design critic at distinguished institutions such as Parsons The New School for Design, The San Francisco Art Institute, Rhode Island School of Design, and Yale University.
His professional experience includes being a former Creative Director at Compass, Design Director at SYPartners, Graphic Designer at 2x4, Design Director at AR New York, Graphic Designer at Chronicle Books, and Director of Alumni Relations in San Francisco at Rhode Island School of Design.
