Software Development Manager, AWS SDKs

- Led a team of software engineers and business analysts supporting the integration with the firm's fixed income analytics and market data platforms such as Bloomberg PORT and FTSE Yield Book. We source portfolio, index, and security level fixed income analytics (e.g. OAS, OAD, DTS) and reference data (e.g. ratings) from these providers and distribute curated datasets internally to other applications via APIs. Our platform is cloud-native and runs entirely in AWS. Technologies include Python, Lambda, Fargate, SNS, SQS and S3.
- Led a team of software engineers that collaborated with quant research to integrate quantitative research into production applications.
- Led the development and maintenance of a multi-factor fixed income risk model in collaboration with the quant research team. The separate components of the model included factor exposure (aka exposure 'loading'), covariance matrix and tracking error. Technologies included Python, C#, AWS Lambda and AWS Step Functions

In my role as CEO for this small company I:

- Delivered a 300% YoY increase in revenue in 2014 by eliminating unprofitable accounts, redirecting sales efforts toward more profitable accounts, and increasing capacity.
- Led the modernization of the company’s accounting platform, moving from an outdated, offline version of QuickBooks to the latest version of QuickBooks Online platform
- Implemented an online electronic invoicing system, improving cash flow as customers began to pay invoices electronically
- Moved payroll processing from an outsourced provider to QuickBooks online. This lowered payroll processing costs while improving reporting capabilities around payroll tax liability.
- Supervised sales, marketing, and PR activities. 
- Established a company health care program for both overseas and domestic employees

Digithrive, Inc.

I worked directly with Digithrive’s clients to help them clarify their product vision, define their product requirements, and I managed every aspect of the software development process. We used Agile development with Scrum.

In my role as Project Manager I:

- Acted as a management consultant and business analyst to help clients clarify and document their business requirements
- Worked as a ScrumMaster supporting our internal development team
- Created, documented, and implemented a custom Linux build for development and production environments, ensuring that our development platform matched production
- Implemented Vagrant for development machines and moved all developers away from XAMPP to virtual machines created with Vagrant to eliminate variances between developer environments
- Implemented Amazon Web Services for production web servers, increasing performance and stability for our clients and our own products
- Wrote a custom Linux shell script for code deployments that can retrieve a branch from git and deploy it to a production server
- Implemented Continuous Integration with Atlassian Bamboo to deploy code to development servers as soon as changes are committed to version control

After a successful contract position at Sparx, I was hired on full time to manage the company's entire IT infrastructure platform. I managed the Infrastructure Team (10 people) in the Tokyo head office.  This team handled server and network administration, global WAN,  procurement and financing, Desktop Support, and Help Desk.  I also managed the delivery of infrastructure services to our New York, London, Bermuda, and Hong Kong offices by interfacing with the local teams via email, teleconference and VTC.

Notable Achievements:
- Oct 06 - Dec 06 - Adopted virtualization as a part of the core infrastructure strategy for the Group resulting in faster provisioning, more robust testing and recovery scenarios, increased efficiency, and reduced data center footprint. 

- Oct 06 - Feb 07 - Managed the transition from an outsourced Level 1 Helpdesk to in-house IT Service Desk covering L1-L2.  

- April 07 - May 07 - Lead the implementation of a professional call tracking system for L1-L3 support teams.  This replaced an in-house developed MS Access tracking system.  

- May 07 - August 07 - Lead the build, implementation, and roll-out of a Standard Operating Environment (SOE) for desktops and laptops. 

- June 07 - March 08 - Lead a cost reduction effort using an external consultant that resulted in JPY 35 million in annual IT cost savings. 

- Sept 07 - April 08 - Led the Infrastructure Group in creation, documentation, and implementation of internal controls for JSOX. Implemented a system of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual activities designed to test the effectiveness of internal controls and produce evidence that the control is being applied.

SPARX Group

Global Infrastructure Manager

- Dispatched to SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. (3 month contract)
- Led migration of Email, Files Services, and Line of Business applications to an off-site data center as part of the company's BCP preparations.
- Completely re-designed the company's Active Directory structure using OU's to model the organizational structure and GPO's to automate previously manual processes.
- Completely re-designed the company's file sharing procedures using Windows 2003 R2 and DFS, and DFSr.
- Drafted and implemented the company's first Workstation Security Policy to increase endpoint security. Implemented changes to end point security via Group Policy Objects. Some changes implemented were renaming the local administrator account, setting a 30-minute screen lock, and implementing a password policy requiring complex passwords that must be changed every 42 days.
- Implemented Windows Server Update Services for patch management of workstations and servers.
- Implemented a new remote access solution leveraging Terminal Services to replace the existing insecure PPTP VPN solution.
- Provided level 3 support for issues escalated from the help desk.
