Jason Ackerman

Jason Ackerman is a former executive at TerrAscend Corp., a leading North American cannabis operator. He served as CEO and Executive Chairman of TerrAscend from 2020 to 2021.13 Prior to his role at TerrAscend, Ackerman was best known as the co-founder and CEO of FreshDirect, an online grocery company he helped establish in 1999.24

Ackerman's involvement with TerrAscend began in November 2019 when he was appointed to the company's Board of Directors and named Executive Chairman.5 He later assumed the role of interim CEO in January 20203, before being officially appointed as CEO. However, on March 23, 2021, TerrAscend announced that Ackerman was stepping down from his roles as CEO and Executive Chairman.1

Before his time in the cannabis industry, Ackerman had a successful career in the online grocery business. He led FreshDirect as CEO for nearly 20 years, growing it into a significant player in the e-commerce food retail space.24 Ackerman holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University.6
