Jasmine Thompson is a dedicated professional with a background in Food & Agriculture, starting her journey in Northern California. She is known for establishing five food forests on Native American Tribal Lands, showcasing her commitment to food sovereignty and sustainable ecosystems.
Upon relocating to Philadelphia, PA, Jasmine continued her advocacy in food justice, literacy, and equity. She is the founder of Philly Forests, a social enterprise that allocates a portion of its earnings from farmers market and CSA sales to support the Philly Forests Urban Ecology program. This initiative aims to enhance tree canopy coverage in underserved areas by distributing free trees and shrubs.
At Philly Forests, Jasmine manages a farm spanning three acres in Northwest Philadelphia, situated within a local arboretum. She also oversees the Germantown Farmers Market and is set to expand to additional locations in 2022. Her skill set includes Farm Education Program Management, Curriculum Development, Volunteer Recruitment, and Community Organizing.
Jasmine Thompson holds an Associate's degree in Biology, General from Arcadia University. She has previously served in key roles such as Director at Philly Forests, Community Garden Specialist at Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), Project Associate at The Food Trust, and Food & Garden Organizer at Community Food Council of Del Norte & Adjacent Tribal Lands.
