Janet Brown, EVP Acquisitions and Global Distribution at Gunpowder & Sky

Janet Brown is an experienced media executive who currently serves as the President of Content Distribution for North America and Latin America at BBC Studios.1 Prior to joining BBC Studios in August 2022, she held several leadership roles at Gunpowder & Sky, including:

• EVP Global Distribution and Commercial Operations (January 2021 - August 2022)
• EVP Acquisitions and Distribution (September 2016 - December 2020)

In her roles at Gunpowder & Sky, Janet led the company's global content distribution and monetization efforts across various platforms and windows.1 She managed the acquisition, co-financing, and co-production of narrative, documentary, and podcast content, as well as the development of the company's direct-to-consumer brands and FAST channels.1

Prior to Gunpowder & Sky, Janet served as the CEO of FilmBuff, an independent distribution company that she grew from a startup to an established industry player.1 She also held positions at Cinetic Media, Yahoo, and Accenture earlier in her career.1

Janet holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from McGill University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.1 She was recognized as one of the "Top Women in Digital" by Cynopsis in 2015.1
