Jan Sramek

Jan Sramek is the Founder and CEO of California Forever, a company dedicated to developing a new sustainable community in Solano County, California. He has held this position since July 2017, aiming to create affordable housing and enhance the quality of life for residents while supporting economic growth in the region.1

Background and Education

Sramek grew up in a small city in the Czech Republic. His early experiences, particularly watching his grandmother build their family home, inspired his interest in construction and community development. He pursued higher education at prestigious institutions, obtaining a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Mathematics and Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).15

Career Path

Before founding California Forever, Sramek co-founded several companies:

• Better AG (2012-2014): A company focused on training employees more effectively.
• Memo Inc. (2015-2016): A personal learning platform. He also worked as an investor at Goldman Sachs in London from 2009 to 2011.15

Vision for California Forever

Under Sramek's leadership, California Forever aims to address California's housing crisis by creating a new urban community that integrates sustainable practices and modern living. The project has garnered attention for its potential to provide jobs, improve housing availability, and foster local economic development. However, it has also faced challenges, including political hurdles regarding planning and community engagement.234

Sramek emphasizes the importance of building infrastructure that allows residents to live closer to their workplaces, reducing long commutes and enhancing overall quality of life. His vision includes attracting innovative companies to the area to create job opportunities for local residents.23
