Jamil Brair

Jamil Brair is a successful businessman with a diverse career path. He is currently the Managing Partner at SilkRoute Group, a private equity and venture capital firm based in Dubai. Prior to this, he co-founded Kaycee Aerospace, which trades in aircraft spare parts and components, and Asya's Nursery, an educational institution based in Dubai offering British curriculum to children aged 6 months to 4 years. Brair also served as an Advisory Board Member for Tandem Partners, a company that provides advisory services to SMEs.

Before his entrepreneurial pursuits, Brair managed SHUAA Partners Fund I and Frontier Opportunities Fund I, two of SHUAA Partners' private equity funds. He led due diligence and directed the screening process for investment opportunities and served as a member of the SHUAA Partners investment committee.

Brair started his career in audit at Arthur Andersen in Montreal, Canada, in 1995, where he was most recently a Manager in the Corporate Finance department leading due diligence and business valuation mandates for private equity and M&A transactions. He later moved to The National Investor as an Assistant Vice-President in the Private Equity Department, assisting in the structuring and establishment of an Islamic real estate fund.

Brair holds a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business and a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting from McGill University. He also earned the designation of Chartered Business Valuator in addition to the Chartered Accountant title.
