James Wagner is a seasoned finance professional with a background in city planning, civil engineering, and public transportation.
He currently serves as the Director of Finance and CFO for the City of Tulsa, overseeing financial strategies and operations.
Prior to his current role, James held the position of Chief of Performance Strategy and Innovation in the Mayor's Office at the City of Tulsa, where he spearheaded data-driven decision-making and innovation initiatives.
During his tenure as the Principal Transportation Planner at INCOG, the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the metro Tulsa area, James led various transportation projects such as the Fast Forward Regional Transit System Plan and the Peoria Bus Rapid Transit Plan.
His expertise in project management, public engagement, and financial reporting has been recognized through prestigious awards like the National Planning Excellence Award for Public Outreach from the American Planning Association.
James Wagner's educational background includes a Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation and a Master's degree in City & Regional Planning, along with a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State University, respectively.
Apart from his professional roles, he has also contributed to the academic field as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma and has been involved with organizations like Skyline Planning+Design and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority during the early stages of his career.
