James Tour

James Tour is a renowned synthetic organic chemist with a multitude of research interests in the field of nanotechnology. After completing his education, Tour spent 11 years as part of the faculty at the University of South Carolina, before joining Rice University in 1999, where he now holds positions as the T.T. and W.F. Chao Professor of Chemistry, Professor of Computer Science, and Professor of Materials Science and NanoEngineering. His research interests include nanoelectronics, graphene electronics, carbon nanovectors for medical applications, CO2 capture, water splitting, carbon composites, and many more. Tour is also known for his work in pre-college education, developing the NanoKids program for K-12 education, as well as SciRave, a popular science program for elementary and middle school students used in over 450 school districts in Texas alone.
