James Forbes
Experienced Geologist and Technical Team Lead at Challenger Energy Group
James Forbes is a Development Geoscientist in the Oil and Gas industry, specializing in projects in shallow onshore fields in Trinidad. His current work involves waterflood pilots, well intervention planning, and well planning.
He holds an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Royal Holloway, where he focused on the prospectivity of Miocene Sands in Trinidad. James was part of the RHUL Imperial Barrel Award team that secured second place in the European Regional Finals for evaluating the potential of the eastern Finnmark Platform, Barents Sea. He also achieved a First in BSc (Hons) Geology from University of Plymouth, finishing at the top of his cohort.
James's competencies include geological interpretation, project planning, data acquisition, management and integration, and communication. He is proficient in tools such as Petrel, Kingdom, GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS), Midland Valley MOVE, database creation & management (MS Access), and MS Excel (VBA).
Previously, James has held roles as Technical Team Lead at Challenger Energy Group Plc, Geographic Technician (Corporal and Lance Corporal) in the British Army Reserves, Development Geoscientist at Challenger Energy Group Plc, Technical Assistant at Challenger Energy Group Plc, and Geographic Technician (Sapper) in the British Army Reserves.
