James Elsey

James Elsey is a seasoned Microservices & AWS Cloud Engineer with a rich background in software development.

With over a decade of experience in software engineering, James has specialized in developing APIs and system integration using Java/Spring, along with skills in frontend, Android and iOS mobile development, and API gateway management.

Having worked in various sectors in the UK before relocating to Melbourne in 2014, James has gained expertise in education, finance & banking, telcos, insurance, transport, sports betting, and healthcare.

He tends to quickly become a subject matter expert on the systems he works on and often progresses into a team/tech lead role.

James has a diverse skill set encompassing Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Golang, and Python, and he is proficient in AWS, building cloud-native systems.

Apart from his professional endeavors, James enjoys spending time with his family, practicing Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and volunteering as a firefighter at his local CFA.

Holding British citizenship and Australian permanent residency, James is in the process of applying for Australian citizenship.

His educational background includes a Diploma of Higher Education (HND) and BTEC National Diploma in Computer Science from West Suffolk College, as well as a Bsc (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems from Anglia Ruskin University.

Throughout his career, James has held roles such as Microservice Engineer at Transurban, Senior Microservices Engineer at Versent, Backend Tech Lead at Tabcorp, Senior Software Engineer at Odecee, and has worked with organizations like ANZ, PruHealth, Tesco Mobile, and O2 Telefónica UK, among others.
