James Calkins

James Calkins is a highly experienced patent attorney with a strong background in US and international licensing and litigation.

His educational qualifications include a JD and LLM in Intellectual Property Law, where he ranked in the top 10% at Franklin Pierce Law Center (now the University of New Hampshire School of Law). Additionally, he holds a BS in Chemical Engineering, graduating cum laude from the University of Michigan.

With an impressive career history, James has held key positions such as Sr. Director, Legal Counsel at Qualcomm and Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Head of North America Contracting at Sanofi. At Sanofi, he also served as the AVP of Global Head of Emerging Market and Consumer Product Patents, as well as the AVP of Business Development/Group Patent Counsel at Sanofi-aventis US.

Before these roles, James Calkins founded the Paterus Law Group and worked as a Managing Member there. He also gained experience as a Senior Analyst at IPD Analytics, an Associate at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, and a Law Clerk at The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
