James Bowden

James Bowden is a junior at Caltech with a strong background in machine learning, software design, and bioinformatics. He has extensive experience in biomedical research and is passionate about developing impactful data processing and analysis techniques, models, and related software.
His current interests span a wide range of topics including ML, Bayesian inference, deep learning, adaptive experiment design, data science, causal inference, self-driving technology, AI for education, bioinformatics, and cell-computer interfacing.
James has excelled academically, holding a perfect 4.0/4.0 GPA in his Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science at Caltech. Prior to this, he was honored as the Valedictorian at Granada Hills Charter High School.
He has gained practical experience through various roles, such as serving as a SWE Intern in Machine Learning and Modeling at Uber, a Teaching Assistant for multiple Computer Science courses, a Dean's Tutor, and a Machine Learning Researcher/SURF Intern at Caltech.
James has also contributed significantly to research endeavors, having worked as a Bioinformatics Researcher and Project Leader, a Biomedical Researcher, and in various research positions at institutions like UT Southwestern Medical Center, UCLA's California NanoSystems Institute, UW Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine, and Amgen.
He is currently seeking research and industry internship opportunities for Summer 2022 and is eager to engage in discussions related to his areas of expertise. James is open to collaborations and welcomes networking opportunities.
