Jamal Edwards

Jamal Edwards was a prominent British entrepreneur and the founder of SBTV, a pioneering online music platform that significantly impacted the UK music scene. He was born in 1990 in Luton and grew up in west London. Edwards launched SBTV at the age of 15, initially recording his friends performing in his neighborhood. The platform became instrumental in launching the careers of several well-known artists, including Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, and Jessie J.134

Edwards was awarded an MBE in 2014 for his contributions to music and was recognized for his efforts to promote emerging talent in the grime and rap genres. In addition to his work in music, he was involved in various philanthropic initiatives, including mental health awareness and youth employment programs through his charity, Jamal Edwards Delve.12

Tragically, Jamal Edwards passed away on February 20, 2022, at the age of 31. His death was later confirmed to be drug-related, with a coroner's inquest revealing evidence of cocaine use and alcohol presence, contributing to cardiac arrhythmia.24 His legacy continues to influence the music industry and inspire young entrepreneurs in the creative fields.
