Jala Smith-Huys

Jala Smith-Huys is a seasoned professional with a background spanning over two decades in design, creative direction, and social media strategy.

She is the owner and designer at Seek & Swoon, a brand that specializes in travel-inspired knit throw blankets, all sustainably made in the USA.

Launched in 2015, Seek & Swoon collaborates with an American family-owned knitting mill, contributing to the revival of the American knitting industry.

Jala's designs draw inspiration from her travels to various destinations like Spain, Ireland, and Iceland, using 100% recycled fibers that are machine washable.

Her products can be found online, in numerous stores nationwide and overseas, as well as in select boutique hotels.

With a degree in Public Relations & Journalism from Southern Oregon University, Jala has held key positions like Founder/Designer at Seek & Swoon, Owner/Social Media & Digital Strategist at Embark — A Social Media Consultancy, and Creative Director at New Seasons Market.

She has also been involved in organizations such as Eternal Maternal, Ashland Daily Tidings, Nature's Fresh Northwest, Community Works, and had internships at Providence Medford Medical Ctr and The Walt Disney Company.
